How to play Wordle Duel
- Choose Singleplayer for Classic Wordle or a race against a bot, Local to pass one device around, or Online for 2-6 players.
- Everyone tries to find the same hidden five-letter word, with six guesses each.
- Type a real five-letter word and press Enter. Green tiles are the right letter in the right spot, yellow tiles are in the word but in a different spot, and grey tiles are not in the word.
- Use the colours to narrow it down. Opponents only see your colour pattern, never your letters.
- Solve it in fewer guesses and faster than the others to score more. After the last round, the highest total wins.
Rules
- Guesses must be valid five-letter words from the word list; anything else is rejected without using a guess.
- A solved round scores (7 minus guesses used) x 100, plus +50, +25 or +10 for the first, second and third player to solve it.
- A round ends when every player has solved the word or used all six guesses, and the word is then revealed to everyone.
- Online, the host picks 1-5 rounds before the first guess; if the top total is shared, the match is a draw.
Tips and strategy
- Open with a word full of common letters, such as CRANE or SLATE, to rule out as much as possible.
- Do not reuse grey letters: every new letter you test gives you more information.
- Watch for double letters: a word like LEVEL or SPEED is easy to miss.
- Speed matters, but a wild guess that misses costs 100 points, so a careful extra second can pay off.
Questions
Can other players see my guesses in Wordle Duel?
No. Opponents and spectators only see the colours of your tiles, never the letters, until the word is revealed at the end of the round.
How is Wordle Duel scored?
Solving in one guess earns 600 points, two guesses 500, down to 100 for six, plus a speed bonus of 50, 25 or 10 for the first three solvers. Unsolved rounds score zero.
How many players can play Wordle Duel?
Two to six players online or in Pass & Play. In singleplayer you can play Classic on your own or race a bot on Easy, Medium or Hard.
