Cards
Solitaire
Classic Klondike: build the four suits from ace to king. Play solo for your best time or race friends on the same deal.
Solitaire guide
Classic Klondike patience: play solo against the clock, or race friends through the very same deal.
How to play Solitaire
- Choose Play solo for a relaxed game against the clock, or Play online to race 2-6 players who all get the same shuffled deal.
- Pick Draw 1 (easier) or Draw 3 (harder) before the deal. Seven piles are dealt with the top card of each face up, and the rest go in the stock.
- Tap a card to send it to the best spot, drag a card or a run of cards onto another pile, or double-tap to send a card to the foundations. Keyboard players can tab to a card and press Enter.
- Build the tableau down in alternating colours (a red 6 on a black 7), and tap the stock to turn over new cards when you get stuck.
- Move all 52 cards to the four foundations, ace to king by suit, to win. When every card is face up, Auto-finish plays the rest for you.
Rules
- Tableau piles build down by one rank in alternating colours, and you can move a whole face-up run at once. Only a king (or a run starting with a king) can fill an empty pile.
- Foundations build up by suit from ace to king. A hidden card is turned over as soon as the cards on top of it are moved away.
- Draw 1 turns one card at a time with unlimited passes through the stock. Draw 3 turns three at a time and allows three passes.
- Scoring follows the classic Windows rules: +10 for a card to a foundation, +5 from the waste to the tableau, +5 for turning over a card, -15 for taking a card back off a foundation and -100 for each redeal in Draw 1. The score never goes below zero.
- Solo games give you 3 free hints per deal; more hints use a hint helper from the Gem shop. Undo is always free. Online races have no hints or undo.
- In an online race the first player to clear all 52 cards wins. After 10 minutes the race ends and the most foundation cards wins, with fewer moves breaking a tie.
Tips and strategy
- Turn over hidden cards first: freeing the big piles on the right opens up the most moves.
- Do not empty a pile unless you have a king ready to move into it.
- Hold back from rushing low cards to the foundations if you still need them to build on in the tableau.
- In Draw 3, think before you redeal: you only get three passes through the stock.
Questions
Is every Solitaire deal winnable?
No. Most Klondike deals can be won, but some cannot. DD Games re-deals any shuffle where no move at all is possible at the start, so every game gives you something to play.
What is the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?
Draw 1 turns one card from the stock at a time and lets you go through the stock as often as you like. Draw 3 turns three cards at a time, only the top one can be played, and you get three passes.
How does a Solitaire race work?
Everyone in the room gets the same shuffle and plays their own copy at the same time. You can see how far the others are, but not their cards. The first to finish wins; otherwise the most foundation cards after 10 minutes wins.
Do I earn rewards for Solitaire?
Solo games earn a little XP for signed-in players and your best times are saved on your device. Online races earn XP and Gems like other online games.
